Fuselage Right Side Black Tissue Strip
This morning after church, Sue and I went to
breakfast and then came home. After I changed my clothes, I decided to
tackle the job of putting the black tissue strip on the right side of the
fuselage before it is time for the Cowboy's playoff game this afternoon.
Again I cut a 1" strip of bond paper and taped it on the right side fuselage
along where the top edge of the strip would be to match the left side.
However, this time I tried something different. I lightly rubbed the side of
the right side of the fuselage with a soft clean cotton rag to build up a
static charge on the surface. When I positioned the tissue strip up against
the straight edge of the bond paper, the static charge attracted the tissue
strip and pulled it down firmly against the fuselage. Then I carefully
pulled and smoothed out the tissue strip and slid it into position. Using a
small brush, I applied acetone at several points along the tissue strip to
stick it down. I removed the bond paper and finished sticking the tissue
strip down with acetone after which I brushed on a thin coat of clear dope.
This static charge technique eliminated most the of pucker problem in the
strip that I experienced on the left side. I took a picture of the black
tissue strip on the right side of the fuselage, which shown below.
For comparison, this shows yesterday's matching
black tissue strip on the left side of the fuselage. ********Tandy********
