Landing Gear Fairings
Today I made, covered, and installed the two
landing gear (LG) fairings shown below.
There are a lot features about this Herr kit that
are undesirable. I had a heck of a time trying to get
these LG fairings to fit up right. The picture
below shows one of these undesirable features. Notice how the LG wire exits
the side of the fuselage above the bottom longeron. This forces the LG
fairing's intersection with the fuselage to be some what skewed as can be
seen below. I know it is only a detail, but it caused me a lot of problem
and it is not the way the J-3 Cub is!
However, even though the Herr Cub is not scale,
the LG fairings help add to the scale appearance as shown below, don't you
