Sailplane Project
This afternoon I finished the forward "barrel"
planking with strips of 3/32" X 1/4" balsa on the left side of the fuselage
and added the two additional side 1/8" square stringers, including the six
additional stringer fillets as shown below. I left this picture a little
larger so you could see more detail on the left side of the fuselage. Notice
I have removed the sub rudder and inserted a piece of 3/16" X 1/4" balsa
strip just to protect the slot from getting dinged. The strip is held in
place with a rubber band.
This picture shows a close up of the twelve
stringer fillets where the stringers attach to the forward planking.
In addition, I was able to finish all but two of
the forward "barrel" planking strips on the right side of the fuselage. I
want finish this right side up tomorrow and do some sanding to bring the
firewall in flush with the forward
planking.............................Tandy
