Sailplane Construction Project Session #64
With the cowl internal structure in place as
shown below, the cowl frame was removed along with the McCoy 60 engine.
A jig fixture shown below was made to secure the
cowl frame to the fuselage while the exterior barrel planking was put on.
The picture below shows the cowl frame secured to
the fuselage with the jig fixture.
This evening I managed to get ten 3/32" X 1/4"
planking strips glued onto the bottom of the cowl frame as shown below.
Notice the plywood on the front used to press the cowl frame's rear
bulkhead firmly against the firewall while the planking strips are being
